The Higgs Boson particle is thought to have been discovered! Analyzing the results of trillions of high energy collisions that took place in particle accelerators, physicists concluded that the higgs boson particle (or a particle that's extremely similar) was present in their observations. They referred to the discovery as a "5-sigma" bump, which is pretty much the gold standard in scientific discovery. A bump this high signifies that the margin of error, or the odds that the discovery is a result of chance, are less than 1 in 3.5 million!
